Pilgrim Flasks by the Pottery Crone

Picture
In days of old, enterprising merchants would sell holy water in ceramic flasks from the sacred wells near their city. Often the flasks were stamped with the design of the god or saint to whom the shrine was dedicated. Pilgrims would carry these flasks home with them to perform the miracles attributed to the shrine. Archeologists, finding many shards of these flasks, have dubbed them Pilgrim Flasks.  When I read about them I realized I could also make Pilgrim Flasks. But, alas, I have no holy water. That is your task, to take your flask with you on your journey to find your own holy water.

Greenmen and Goddess Mugs

Picture
These hefty mugs sport the images of Greenmen or goddesses. The images were first modeled by hand  and then molded in latex in order to reproduce the image on other mugs. Although an ancient Druidic image, the Greenman is found on architecture all over Europe and America.
